A Note from Louisa (Founder of MyKidColors)

Growing up in Nigeria as the youngest of ten children, Mother’s Day was acknowledged at church, but if I’m being honest, it was International Children’s Day that had all the massive weekend fairs and school celebrations!

My very first Mother’s Day looked completely different. It was the thick of the 2020’s lockdowns, and I was pregnant. There was no church service or big outing—just the exhausting, beautiful reality of being a first-time expecting mom.

Now, with two young kids, my expectations for Mother’s Day are incredibly simple. I don’t need a grand gesture. I just want a day off—a good nap, a massage, and maybe a meal cooked by dad with the kids’ “help.” I just want a moment to recharge.

As my children get older, I know the handmade gifts and scribbles are coming. When they sit down to color these free Mother’s Day coloring pages, I want them to feel the immense, unconditional love God has blessed our family with.

And as their mom? I will hold their sweet, scribbled art close to my heart forever—and I will be deeply thankful for the 20 minutes of quiet time it gave me to just sit, breathe, and rest.

Mother’s Day, for me, is about gratitude. About love that shows up daily. About thanking God for the blessing of motherhood.

And sometimes, it’s about a good nap.

Conversation Corner: Turn Coloring Into Connection

Turn this activity into a bonding moment. While your child colors, try asking these questions:

  1. For “Cozy Kawaii” (Page 1): “This toddler is giving their mommy a huge hug. What is your absolute favorite thing to do with Mommy?”
  2. For “Kitchen Love” (Page 7): “They are making a big, messy family recipe! If you could cook any meal for Mom today, what would it be?”
  3. For “Self-Care Queen” (Page 10): “This mama is taking a quiet moment with her tea and books to rest. Why is it important for mommies to get a little time to relax?”

Why We Choose Hand-Drawn Over AI

When talking about Mother’s Day, representation matters.

Our children deserve to see a mama in a satin bonnet brushing teeth with her baby. They deserve to see stretch marks honored. They deserve to see a wheelchair-accessible kitchen, hearing aids, locs, braids, and headwraps normalized.

They deserve to see tenderness, rest, and everyday beauty reflected in faces that look like their own family.

At MyKidColors, we collaborate with real human illustrators—not robots. Every Mothers Day coloring page in this set was thoughtfully created to center dignity, cultural awareness, and emotional truth.

I need a last-minute gift! How can we make these printables look extra special?

You can easily turn a printable mom coloring sheet into a keepsake by placing the finished artwork in an inexpensive document frame.
